My Husband and I purchased this property in April 2016, the municipal account was opened by myself immediately upon transfer, however the rates were not being billed. I made several trips to the offices in Beacon Bay, and working for a property company I even asked my staff to assist in resolving this issue when they made trips to the BCM offices. If you look back on the payment history, you will see that we paid more than what was billed so that the account was sitting in credit should the account have been rectified, but unfortunately it was not financially viable to continue this. Please also see attached a trail of mails wherein I paid for the services of someone to assist, but received no feedback after several follow ups. After more than two years of attempting to resolve I hoped that once the next valuation roll was carried out this would surely have been picked up and rectified. This however only happened in August 2021, with no reference to any backdated charges. I have now received the latest municipal account reflecting charges but as there are no dates I cannot confirm what period this is for. I understand that there was period where I was not charged, however this was not for lack of attempting to resolve on our side. My husband was retrenched in July last year, and we are unfortunately not in a position to settle this amount.
