Yesterday I received the usual monthly Buffalo City Metro billing notification reading thus: BUFFALO CITY METRO – Customer Account 10419383. Balance of R5759.67. KINDLY NOTE, the due date applies only to current billing. Regards. BCMM. What is of concern is the amount indicated which is more or less double my monthly bill as your records would attest. I associate the amount with the conversation I had with your meter reader, a Mr Pambela, on the morning of November 24, 2022.To give context: On this said day, on my going to work, I noticed Mr Pambela kneeling next to my water meter box; I deduced he was from the Municipality and decided to quiz him on the newly/recently installed new meters. In short, he indicated (i) that there we problems he discovered when doing his meter reading rounds caused by the installers (ii) that for example he had picked out from his gadget which indicates that I am owner of two properties and therefore was possibly billed twice – my property is 61 Ingqawa Crescent, Clubview, Qonce and the “second” property I purportedly own is 67 Ingqawa Crescent. Of course, I don’t own two properties. He asked me whether I haven’t received “unusual” water bills. My response was not yet as the new meter gadget/contraption has recently been installed. Mr Pambela undertook to look into and rectify the matter. And now this billing which is double my normal account. Shocking.
