Subject
Water Charges in 2020 and 2021
Description
I hereby humbly request for writing off of the debt on our BCMM Account No. 10417457 for 7 Castle Street, Berea. During the years 2020 and 2021 the water bills for this house were very high mainly due to water leakages that happened during 2019, 2020 and 2021. The high charges for water were aggravated by the application of punitive tariffs that were applied on my account from July 2020, and backdated to January 2020. Furthermore, the big water charge of R38,920.81 in my statement for July 2020 includes the big water leakages that happened at or in the vicinity of the BCMM Meter during June to August 2019 but were not picked up in the BCMM readings because, apparently, there was no actual meter reading (but estimation) between June 2019 to July 2020. This house has had water leakages since a new BCMM meter was installed in about June 2019 and these are categorised as follows: (a) The big water leakage that happened outside the premises in the BCMM meter area from about June 2019 to August 2019 which was only attended to by my own plumber in August 2019 (Refer to my previous queries submitted on the query forms in 2020, the Plumbers Report dated 12 August 2019 submitted to BCMM officials at their Road Show at Beacon Bay in 2021 as well as the attached Plumber's Report dated 10 February 2022); (b) The water Leakages that continued to happen from 2019 until 2021 (and these leakages were confirmed by the BCMM Water Officials in 2021) and these leakages were caused by leaking underground rusted and rotten water pipes. My plumber attended to these water leakages by replacing the rusted leaking water pipes and by bypassing the pipes that went under the buildings (Refer to the attached Plumber's Report dated 10 February 2022 and my previous queries submitted on the BCMM query forms in 2020 and 2021); and (c) The water leakages that are caused by the BCMM Stop Cock that has not been able to stop the flow of water to the house when the plumbers are doing plumbing repairs in the house since 2019 and when there is a burst water pipe in the house (Refer to my Query Ref. No. 97119 dated 02 March 2023 and the attached Plumber's Report dated 10 February 2022).
