Water being billed to incorrect Account
Description
Dear Billing Department – Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality Water meter – Account 10405202 (10 Scheckter Place, Bunkers Hill, East London – ERF:ELM266657) The previous owners of this property were contacted by debt collectors related to outstanding monies on old accounts. After visiting Beacon Bay municipal office 08.12.2022 – it was confirmed that two of the three accounts under previous owners name have been closed and the account 10235591 is still being charged for water. This property was transferred to new owners – CLIVE BERLYN INVESTMENTS (PTY) LTD IN JUNE 2017 and after prolonged follow up on the matter that no water was being charged to the new owner property/account (10405202) (apparently it had also been an issue with previous owner – no water charge), water was invoiced to new owner account. So, the water issue was taken as resolved, since new/current owners are being billed for water. Now it has been determined that the old owner account is still being billed with water usage on the water meter number (SN212071784) confirmed for the property. Please advise and resolve by transferring the water meter cited above to account 10405202. Please could you explain how you are determining the current water being billed to Clive Berlyn Investments each month now that it has come to light that the correct water meter is not being read from for billing. We would expect than that there should need to be an adjustment for “duplicate” water billing and the outstanding portion for water usage can then be re-calculated and confirmed what outstanding portion is. Please see included with attachment: • confirmation of the accounts relevant to the property Acc: 70080263 - L Schwulst (previous owner – Beacon Bay municipal office confirmed account is closed) Acc: 10218880 - FJ Schwulst (previous owner - Beacon Bay municipal office confirmed account is closed Acc: 10235591 - L Schwulst (previous owner – Beacon Bay municipal office has confirmed this is the account where water is being billed for property and the reason for the account being handed over – no payment. Previous owner now residing overseas does not receive statements from BCMM) Acc: 10405202 – CLIVE BERLYN INVESTMENS – current owners (since 2017). Water is being invoiced on the municipal account received each month • Email from debt agency relevant to outstanding monies • Photo confirmation of the water meter on the property • BCMM Clearance certificate for the transfer of property in 2017 • Correspondence from lawyer – BCMM confirming that water reading would be transferred to current BCMM account Thank you, CLIVE BERLYN INVESTMENTS
